Emily McKibbon is an award-winning writer and curator of settler descent, with over ten years' experience in Canada and internationally. She is the former Associate Director/Senior Curator at the MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie, Ontario; she joined the curatorial staff as Assistant Curator of Photography and Collections Manager in 2013. From 2011 to 2013, she was the Howard and Carole Tanenbaum Curatorial Fellow at George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York. She has worked in curatorial, collections and research capacities at the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles; the Image Centre, Toronto and the National Museum of the Royal New Zealand Navy, Auckland. Emily has received numerous awards and recognitions, including an Honourable Mention for Best New Magazine Writer at the Canadian National Magazine Awards in 2015 and the Edie Yolles Research Prize from the Image Centre in 2020.
